Differenciated Mintago from competitors Created a premium experience across the platform

Background

Mintago, a responsible financial wellbeing tech platform, is designed to empower employees to increase their savings and build financial resilience, ultimately freeing them from financial stress. Over the course of three months, we focused on enhancing their UX to ensure the platform effectively demonstrated value to employers. I led the complete UX redesign, introducing new features aimed at attracting employers to invest in Mintago for their workforce, positioning the product as an essential tool for employee financial wellbeing.

Challenges

The primary challenge was to create a comprehensive overview of employee income and spending, with detailed categorization and the ability for employees to set and prioritize financial goals, supported by in-depth analysis. With diverse user groups—including employers, employees, marketplace partners, and Mintago itself— I began with extensive UX research to clearly understand and address the unique needs of each user.

Outcome

I focused on developing intuitive iconography and imagery, paired with a seamless and functional UX design aimed at informing and educating users. This approach was crucial during key moments such as user onboarding, initial Open Banking adoption via Plaid, and obtaining user consent. A standout feature of the app was financial goal setting, which included the ability for users to rank their goals. To enhance this, I integrated dynamic graphs within the UI, illustrating the financial planning and timelines necessary to achieve various goals—from saving for a holiday within a few years to building a pension pot for retirement. These graphs were designed to adapt and scale, allowing users to confidently navigate through key life stages and plan for the future by understanding their spending habits.
